About LHF
The Lynchburg Historical Foundation was established on November 13, 1972 with the merging of the Lynchburg Historical Society (1934) and the Historic Lynchburg Foundation (1967). Today, we operate as a 501 c 3 non-profit, seeking to preserve and share the story of Lynchburg and the surrounding area.
Mission Statement
The Mission of LHF can be explained in three parts:
To undertake Special Projects which may include aquisition, restoration and preservation of sites, buildings, structures, documents and objects that help to tell the story of our community.
1.
To promote an understanding of history, architecture and culture through educational programs, exhibits, publications, events, and outreach.
2.
To encourage other organizations, corporations and individuals to do likewise; to encourage, promote and develop partnerships that benefit our community.
3.
We achieve our mission by offering memberships, and accepting generous gifts, donations and property from others interested in the preservation of Lynchburg history. If you would like to become a member or make a donation, click HERE.
