"A Good and Pleasant Company" is a collection of 250 short biographies detailing the lives of individuals who lived, worked, played and died in Central Virginia from 1776 - 2026. The book shares the stories of many well-known names, such as John Lynch, Ota Benga and Jane White, as well as lesser-known but equally important figures you'll likely meet for the first time in the pages. These bios are beautifully and uniquely written, allowing you to peer into the dusty windows of the past, looking in on specific and special moments and places. It's local history like you've never read before, and a must-have for your book collection.

It's a collaborative work of more than 60 authors who have come together to share their insights and expertise. Some are descendants or friends of the individuals they've written about.
